DHSX |
Tyco Thermal Controls PetroTrace DHSX heating cable consists of a cut to length, field terminated three phase, constant wattage heating cable. It can generate up to 12.5 Watts/ft (41 W/m), and provide temperature maintenance up to 122°F (50°C). This cable is typically used for flow assurance applications in low flow wells that require an economical and simple way of treating paraffin or hydrates. It is commonly strapped to the production tube to depths of 2625 ft (800 meters) typically. However, it can go as far as 3610 feet (1100 meters).

Mineral Insulated (MI) |

Tyco Thermal Controls Mineral Insulated Cable (MI) is used where high power and high exposure temperatures are required. The versatility of MI cables allow this technology to be employed in a large variety of applications ranging from high output heavy oil reservoir heaters that contribute hundreds of watts per foot, to long line flow assurance applications of up to 1500 meters in length. The large gamete of resistances available provide design flexibility for economical, single pass solutions, to more complex designs involving several passes of looped cable that contribute high power. MI cable is traditionally strapped onto the production pipe using clamps or channels. Heavy oil applications benefit from the high power capability of these heaters, allowing for reservoir (bottom-hole) heating solutions that increase oil mobility and production.

STS |

PetroTrace STS is a novel heating solution specifically designed for long line heating applications. This heater consists of a coiled tube that contains an insulated conductor inside the tube. Both the conductor and coiled tube are used to form an electric circuit that can provide heat for many kilometers. This coiled tube heater can then be inserted into a production pipe without the use of work-over rigs, minimizing installation costs. In this type of completion, the direct contact between the heater and produced oil allow for efficient heat transfer.
Typical applications for PetroTrace STS are in high producing wells (>5000 BOPD), where heat input is required for flow assurance, most commonly paraffin and hydrate prevention in deep wells (longer than 2000 meters). It is also applicable in heavy oil wells that require temperature maintenance along the wellbore for production enhancements or recovery from shutdowns.
