Fire Survival – what it means... Cable product technology denoting highest level of fire performance. Totally inorganic mineral insulated cable construction provides lowest risk solution for all life critical circuits. Pyrotenax Fire Survival products as seen in this image following the 1996 Channel Tunnel fire continued to operate before during and following the disaster. These products: • Will not burn during a fire • Bare MI cables will not contribute to spread of fire » Zero flame propagation • Have zero gaseous emission » Will not contribute toxic smoke or flammable gases • Are able to withstand dynamic forces of major fire conditions » Fire fighting efforts/hose stream, falling debris/concrete…. • Support fire fighting operations, saving of lives and expensive clean up operations without the need for temp wiring after the fire

Fire Resistant – what it means…… Cable product technology denoting a level of fire performance according to local approval requirements. Usual construction is some form of polymeric insulating materials combined with mica tape to provide fire resistant properties. It is apparent from the basic construction and polymeric material component that, to one degree or another (depending on specific material selection), all Fire Resistant cable technologies will burn during a fire. This technology will, in some way, contribute to the fire condition (flame propagation, emission etc) and will not be able to survive a fire to the extent of a Fire Survival, mineral insulated cable technology.
