The presence of gases or fumes in hazardous environments requires a system to block the passage of explosive vapors. Accordingly, the compressed MgO insulation in Pyrotenax® wiring cables stops the passage of helium gas at 2000 psi. Factory fabricated Pyrotenax MI wiring units do not require gas path seals, have a smaller profile than wire and conduit methods, and provide a cost-effective alternative to satisfying NEC Article 501-5 requirements.

As an alternative, VITALink MC/NCC polymeric aluminum armored cable, when used with explosion proof glands provide an effective wiring system in hazardous environments.

HAZARDOUS

Hazardous conditions can exist in places where volatile fuels are handled and pumped routinely. MI cable fittings are designed to meet the explosion and flame path requirements, and pre-terminated MI cable is used in these locations, particularly where they can replace bulky and rigid wire in conduit and conduit seal-offs. VITALink MC/NCC cable with explosion proof fittings is also suitable for use in hazardous areas.

HIGH TEMPERATURE

Conventional wiring cables are generally limited to 90°C (195°F) operating temperatures. Environments where temperatures up to 670°C (1238°F) are encountered require special cabling.
