Local thermostats are typically dedicated to an individual circuit and installed in close proximity to the heat trace application. These devices mostly measure the pipe temperature by means of a temperature sensor installed on the pipe or heated surface. Depending on the type, these thermostats may have a display showing the actually measured pipe temperature, the setpoint and indicate the presence of eventual alarms.
