Both the military and the scientific communities have unique wiring needs. The military often requires cable that can be hermetically sealed off, is radiation resistant, and is equipped with explosion-proof fittings. Scientific applications include the need for cables which can carry large amounts of current and can withstand high temperatures. Tyco Thermal Controls offers mineral insulated and polymer insulated cables for these specific types of applications.

From the hermetic seal-off of wiring, to radiation resistance, to explosion proof fittings, mineral insulated cable provides unique solutions. The unique toughness, small size and flexibility of mineral insulated cables lend themselves to wiring for congested space in military equipment. In terms of scientific usage, magnetic fields required to accelerate and bend subatomic particles along their path in particle accelerators are generated using large coils of current-carrying conductors. Since this process often yields high temperatures (which impact conductor resistance), a special, hollow conductor mineral insulated or polymeric insulated cable can be used to allow circulation of coolant through the coil.
POWER FEEDERS
