The heating mat can be embedded in a thin layer of filler on the existing floor (wood or concrete). It requires only a 3/16 inch cover + floor thickness

There is more to a warm, renovated floor than only the floor warming system. Besides a quality floor warming system, a well-functioning warm floor also requires careful floor preparation and finishing. This is particularly important for renovation applications - because the sub floor can be practically anything.
