Mineral Insulated Heating Cables

Component and Accessory Selection for Self-Regulation and Power-Limiting Cables
Pyrotenax ® brand mineral insulated heating cables (MI) offer a very reliable solution and are recommended for maintain temperatures above 300°F (150°C) or where exposure temperatures exceed 482°F (250°C). Pyrotenax MI heating cables feature:

Superior toughness
Pyrotenax MI heating cables and nonheating cold leads are manufactured with a seamless sheath of Alloy 825 and have proven their reliability in over 40 years of service. MI provides superior toughness in dynamic cut-through and tough mechanical environments.

Easy installation
Pyrotenax MI heating cables are preterminated, eliminating the need for special termination expertise. Special annealing procedures maximize flexibility for ease of on-site handling.

Uniform temperatures
Heat is evenly distributed over the heat-traced surface. Pyrotenax MI heating cable on tank installations is the choice where both higher power and even distribution are required.

Approvals
Tyco Thermal Controls mineral insulated heating systems meet the requirements of the U.S. National Electrical Code and the Canadian Electrical Code. Tyco Thermal Controls MI systems are approved for use in hazardous locations. Based on the application, temperature ID number (T-rating) can be established by calculating the maximum sheath temperature. Contact Tyco Thermal Controls for assistance.

MI Cable-Alloy 825

 MI Cable-Alloy 825
Alloy 825 Mineral Insulated Heating Cables provide solutions for industrial freeze protection and process-temperature maintenance applications in hazardous and non hazardous locations.

MI is also used where high power output, high exposure temperatures, or extreme resistance to environmental corrosives are needed. MI heating cables can provide up to 82 watts per foot (269 watts per meter) of power output with area classification and design approvals. MI heating cables are constructed and approved for use in non hazardous and hazardous (classified)areas. The maximum application temperature for heating units is 1022°F (550°C) and the maximum exposure temperature for the heating cable is 1238°F (670°C). Higher temperatures are available by special order.
